22 IDEX v4 technical specifications

A standalone technical page for the 22 IDEX v4: materials, hardware, thermals, safety, firmware, and detailed specifications.

Why v4?

The 22 IDEX v4 takes the proven v4 foundation and adds usability, security/compliance, and future expandability without pushing users into a six-figure ecosystem or proprietary materials.

01

Open Material System

Not locked to vendor-specific filaments.

02

True IDEX Printing

Multi-material, soluble supports, duplication, and mirror modes.

03

Improved Usability

100+ micro-adjustments improve the overall user experience.

04

Improved Thermals

Higher temperatures for reliable 3D printing of ultrapolymers.

Vision Miner uses its own machinery in its service bureau every day, taking field experience from customers around the world and turning it into practical upgrades.

What's new?

New look, same workhorse

Upgrades to thermal architecture, air quality, field usability, and touchscreen control make the 22 IDEX v4 easier to deploy and operate.

Thermal architecture

Triple-wall/IR-reflective insulation and dual-pane, sealed door for faster heat-up and tighter chamber stability.

Safety & air quality

Integrated HEPA and carbon filtration with internal recirculation reduces particles and odors.

Designed for field use

Lockable doors and lids help protect prints while mounting points support practical deployment.

Integrated touchscreen

Make quick changes on the shop floor without returning to the main controller.

Industry-leading features

Fume extraction - clean air

Integrated HEPA and active carbon filtration continuously scrub the air inside the printer, dramatically reducing particles and odors. External fume extraction can be connected for stricter environments.

XY toolhead - auto alignment

Automated XY toolhead alignment reduces the guesswork of older multi-print alignment processes.

Built-in automatic filament drying system

Filament is stored inside the chamber while printing, helping hygroscopic materials stay dry and improving surface finish.

Auto shutdown and safety systems

Automatic shutdown support, overheating protection, thermal runaway protection, and high-quality components are built into the machine.

Hardware for advanced users

500°C nozzles

Independent dual-extruder hotends

Print performance thermoplastics from PLA to PEEK, PEKK, ULTEM, PPSU, and more.

200°C build platform

True self-leveling build platform

Triple Z-axis motors physically level the build platform before each print with mesh leveling compensation.

100°C+ chamber

Actively heated chamber

Dual thermistors and convection fans maintain a stable heated build environment.

Unlimited materials

1.75mm open-filament FFF/FDM system

Use Vision Miner materials or your own validated filaments.

Unlocked firmware

RepRap firmware on Duet 3

Ethernet, modular Wi-Fi, web control, macros, and slicer flexibility.

Built from steel

Made using top-of-the-line components

Linear rails

Linear-Rail Motion System

When building the 22 IDEX, Vision Miner used high-quality components for the precision of an industrial machine on your desk.

Robust high-temp stepper motors, linear rails, quality wiring, industry-leading electronics, and extra-wide 12mm Kevlar belts help keep the 22 IDEX in spec.

Triple motor Z-axis

True Self-Leveling Build Platform

Three Z-axis motors physically level the build platform before each print, combined with customizable mesh leveling to eliminate guesswork.

Prints start at the perfect height every time, making setup easier and more consistent.

Non-planar ready

6 Independent Axis and 5 Degrees of Freedom

The self-leveling bed and auto-squaring XY gantry enable non-planar printing workflows. All 6 axis are independent, preparing the machine for the next generation of non-planar printing and slicing software.

Cutting-edge motion system

A totally unique, quad-motor X/Y-axis, triple-motor Z-axis

Solid Steel Frame

Stable and dependable, it will not shift as it soaks heat, which is critical at high temperatures.

Terminal Block Connections

No need to hunt down specialized connectors. Easily swap, replace, or modify components.

4-Point Build Plate Mounts

Build plate material stays supported for demanding ultra-performance parts.

Kinematic Z-Axis Mounts

Self-centering, kinematically coupled build platform: always true, solid, and automatically self-leveling.

Easy-Access Belt Adjustment

Front belt adjustment pulleys make it quick to tune the ultra-stable 12mm Kevlar belts.
